Code Club benefits teachers, students and STEM Ambassadors
Code Club, STEM Ambadassors and ICT in schools
STEM Ambassador sessions should provide a number of benefits for all who participate, so it is in everyone’s interest to make them work. As the goals of Code Club fall nicely in line with the goals of STEMNET, these same benefits should be extendable to Code Club sessions.
I recently discovered a new initiative called Code Club (http://www.codeclub.org.uk/) which attempts to introduce computer programming to children in year 5 and 6, via hour long after-school clubs. It is a volunteer-led programme, with no cost to schools, assuming that they already have PCs or Macs upon which to run the software, called Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu/).
